Four Months Old

Alex is 4 months old now. He had a check up with the doctor today and he is growing like a weed and everything looks great! He weighs 15 pounds, 7 ounces and is 26 inches long. He got a couple more vaccinations today but since removing the bandaids hurts worse than the shots he was a big tough guy and mommy got the bandaids off ASAP! His legs are a little sore but that is to be expected.

Alex got his first taste of yellow vegetables tonight. He ate squash like it was going out of style. This little man LOVES to eat! He also loves to sit up on his own and he really likes this thing called a bumbo seat that they have in daycare. So for being a brave boy at the doctor and for eating his vegetables today mommy rewarded him with his very own bumbo. He thinks he is king of the castle sitting in his throne...

Speaking of daycare, Friday is his last day at the school that he has been attending since mommy went back to work and we just want to say thanks to the super special ladies that have taken such great care of our little man over the last 6 weeks or so. We have been on a waiting list for a REALLY long time to get into the school that he starts next week. We knew that where he has been going was only temporary when he started there but the teachers have become very special to us and they have been wonderful to Alex. We will miss them and hope they will check in on his blog occassionally and see how he is doing after he leaves.

We finally got back over to the pool yesterday and he really likes floating around in his float and kicking his feet. After the pool he had dinner and a bath and then we played in his room with his toys and read a couple of books until daddy came home. He was worn out from all the fun! Daddy found us laying on a blanket with Alex singing what we were calling the "baby blues". He wasn't crying but his little sleepy songs sounded so sad. Then in the middle of one of his songs he said "mom" just as plain as day. Well that made mommy's day absolutely perfect and once again he did it in front of all of us so we all got to share the moment together, even big brother was laying in the floor with us. Alex knows how to melt our hearts!

And oh yeah, Alex wants his big brother to know how proud we all are of him for making it through middle school and getting good grades! You rock Big Bro! Let's keep the good grades coming in high school please and show your little brother how it's done : )

Playtime at the Pool

We took Alex to the pool for the first time last weekend. He took a little nap on the way there.

We made sure to keep him well covered and in the shade because all the baby sunscreens say on the bottle not to use under 6 months old without speaking to your doctor first. We will be asking at our next doctor's visit about that.

He liked floating around in his little float and the screen on top was alot of help blocking the sun. He wasn't too fond of the hat but I think it was just making him too hot. He kicked his feet all around and was happy being in the water and watching all the people.

It was getting close to his next feeding time so we took him out, dried him off and went home to eat. As you can see by his chubby cheeks, eating is a favorite of his too : )

Lots of fun and firsts

Alex is 3 months old now, weighs around 14 pounds, 4 ounces and started daycare last week. The teachers in his class, and even some from the other classes, just LOVE him to pieces. He also started sleeping in his crib like a big boy and has made the adjustment from the bassinet in our room quite easily. He is eating 2 tablespoons of cereal twice a day along with his usual bottle feedings and finally tolerates sitting in the high chair. He really did not like the high chair at first.

His latest and greatest achievement was this morning. Jim and I just happened to both get to witness it...that made it all the more special. Alex rolled over from his back to his belly this morning. One arm got stuck under him but he even managed to get that straightened out eventually. He is just growing so fast and accomplishing new things daily!

Memorial Day weekend was full of fun. We went to an outdoor event with live music and lots of people and went to a couple of cookouts. We got to spend some time with our friends Shannon and Bret and their little boy Elliott, who is Jim's little buddy. Elliott let his mom play with Alex a little while he was busy dancing and hanging out with Travis.

We also got to spend some time with Auntie Kristin, Uncle Dave and their girls. It really was a great weekend. I'm happy Jim was able to take some study breaks and that the weather cooperated so we could have a little fun.

Also over the weekend, Alex got a Johnny Jumper. He doesn't really jump in it yet but just moving his feet around makes it wiggle and makes him happy. He also really likes chewing on one of the toys that came with it. I think it feels good on his gums.

Playing in the jumper really tuckers him out. Having fun is hard work!

Alex also got a playmat that he really likes. It plays Mozart and nursery rhymes, has flashing lights, lots of textures for him to feel, toys that hang down for him to grab and kick and a mirror so he can watch and talk to that cute baby in the mirror. As you can see, this also tuckers him out...

As Alex continues to grow, Travis is taking more interest in him so I keep getting some really cute pictures of the two of them together. My heart melts when my teenager takes a little time out of his day to hang with his baby brother!
