Before Thanksgiving we had professional pictures done of the family which have been shared with everyone but here are a couple of shots that may not have been seen yet...

Turkey and sweet potatoes (baby food) is one of Alex's favorite meals. It was the ONLY meat he would eat at that time so he had it pretty much every night for dinner. Thanksgiving was right up Alex's alley...

Thanksgiving was so exciting that Alex couldn't take it any longer and passed out in the middle of the turkey....

Alex started "furniture walking" as we call it. He could go anywhere he wanted as long as he had something to hold on to.

December was a busy month preparing for Christmas. Grandma and Grandpa came into town from St. Louis for the holidays. We had a big meal on Christmas Eve and exchanged presents with them. They gave Alex his first 4-wheeler and he pushed that thing all over the kitchen. He was doing donuts and you would have thought he could walk on his own he was going so crazy with that thing.

Christmas morning was a blast.

It was just as much fun seeing the surprise and excitement on Travis' face when he opened his ipod....

as it was watching Alex experience it all for the first time....

Both boys had an amazing Christmas morning playing with all their gifts from Santa.

It was an early morning of fun but then we had to get ready to head to Nani and Paw-paw's house for breakfast and exchanging presents. Alex dressed up like Santa for the occassion...

He even rode his "reindeer" that Santa brought him....

At Nani and Paw-Paw's, we had a delicious breakfast and then opened lots of presents. One of the things they gave Alex was a recliner so now he has a chair just the perfect size for him...they have given each of their grandkids a recliner and Travis loved the one they gave him years ago. It was worn out when we finally had to throw it away when he was about 6 years old. I'm certain Alex will enjoy this one just as much....

Once all the presents were opened Alex had a blast playing in all the empty boxes. Notice in the background the leg in the air cast. That would be Travis who broke his leg and we didn't even know it. He finished the cross country season and then started practicing with the indoor track team before we finally found out that it was indeed broken. We are hoping he will be able to compete with the cross country team again in the fall.)

Alex's first Christmas was wonderful and exhausting so he crashed out on the couch with Mommy once all of the excitement had settled down. As much fun as it is, Christmas is alot of work even for the little ones who just play hard all day long...

Then came the snow...Alex's first big snow storm started Christmas night and was so beautiful. We took him out in it the next day and delivered some goodies to our neighbors.

Now that the holidays are over and Alex's first birthday is fast approaching we had to prepare him to move out of the baby room at school. He is starting to eat finger foods like chunks of pears, baby biter cookies (pictured), meat sticks (sounds gross but he loves them), and shells & cheese just to name a few of his favorites.

He is also learning to drink from a sippy cup so we can give up the bottle once he starts drinking whole milk right around his first birthday. So many exciting changes. Our baby is quickly becoming a big boy....

AND he is walking on his own now. At 11 months and 1 day, on January 26th Alex decided that was a great day to just start walking on his own, with no help from toys, furniture or loved ones.

He is so big and seems to be leaving the baby stage behind very quickly. Looks like in the picture above that he is ready to head out the door to work. He thinks he is so big but I think I will keep him a baby a little longer before we make him get a job : )
He has two bottom teeth and now has two up top that are coming in. They aren't the ones in the middle but just to each side so I call him my little vampire baby. (He is apparently Team Edward for all those Twilight fans).
He has been moved into the next room at school and is settling in really well. He eats at a table with the other kids for snack and lunch and takes a nap on a big boy mat every day. He also started clapping his hands this week and is so proud of himself when he does it. He learned that in class too when they sing songs and dance around.
Hope you have all enjoyed the update and I will try to post more frequently.
